Tromsø – the gateway to the Arctic
Tromsø is close to latitude 70° north, and is often described as the Gateway to the Arctic, with the most Northern Lights in the world, 2 months of Midnight Sun and equally time with the sun below the horizon.
Tromsø is the capital of North Norway with a population of close to 70,000 and around 9,000 students and has the the world’s northernmost University, Arctic-alpine Botanic Garden and a substantial numbers of festivals like the Tromsø International Film Festival, The North Light festival, Bukta Open Air Festival. The airport is a ten minute drive from the city centre.
